2021-22 School Year Update

We are so excited to share with you the positive changes for the new school year!

Cultivating Faith, Values, and Education

Curriculum

At Heartland Christian Academy, we strive to provide the best education possible–along with a strong Biblical foundation. This combination will give our students positive character traits and and a solid education making them well equipped for high school and beyond.

We are transitioning all curriculum to BJU Press (Bob Jones). We have previously used a combination of curriculum; ie handwriting, Bible, and English, but has not been all BJU. We are changing that for the coming year so all teachers PreK-8 are using ALL BJU curriculum. There are huge advantages to this as it is designed to be cumulative through the years and the different subjects tie together in applicable ways throughout each grade level..

4th-8th Grade Classrooms

Another exciting change that will affect the 4th-8th graders is the classroom structure. There will be ONE specialized teacher per subject. Each class will rotate around the school to meet with that teacher. Everyone will still have a homeroom teacher.

The classroom schedule will change to accommodate for more time in each subject (right now we have planned 55 minutes per subject). This will allow for more hands-on learning which integrates art, projects, and interaction with the students–providing opportunities for all learning styles! The BJU curriculum is also designed to include music, phy ed and art opportunities within the lessons.

Homeroom Teachers:

  • 4th: Mr. Gunther

  • 5th with Mrs. Kraenzel

  • 6th/7th: Ms. Jacksen

  • 8th: Mrs. Johannsen
